Drive out north of Bangkok to visit the ancient Siam,Ayuthaya.
Ayutthaya was Thailands capital from 1350 to 1767. Once a
thriving international commercial centre, but today only the ruins
of this splendid city are to be seen. The ruins and temples are
quite spectacular and some are still quite intact like bronze
statues of Wat Chai Mongkol and Wat Panangcherng. You will also
see the summer palace of King Rama IV with its mixture of Thai,
Chinese and Gothic architecture which is a well preserved museum
to a former historical period in the land once known as Siam. |
