This unique martial art of "Muai Thai" can be seen throughout the week at two major boxing stadiums, Lumphini on Sundays, Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays and at Ratcha¬damnoen on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The boxers undergo long periods of specialised training and are immensely fit and strong although slight in build. This is deceptive for these men are immensely strong and hard-muscled. Feet, arms, fists and knees may be used in the fights and the martial art has now caught on in other countries. It comes as no surprise when much larger Western men without the specialised training, feeling that they can easily win, find themselves on their hacks in a few seconds when up against these steely-muscled fighters. Programmes generally feature eight bouts and commence at 6.00 p.m. Admission fees, apart from ringside seats' are reasonable.
